Adopted by the Board at their meeting of 6th January 2015.
What is a majority vote for national polls and elections?
On all polls and elections other than polls relating to Affiliation Requirements, a simple majority of those voting will be considered the deciding vote.
Affiliation Requirements
In the poll held in January 2010, the following question was asked:
"What percentage of votes cast on a question is acceptable for the result to be considered mandatory?"
The agreed result was 'over 66% (2/3 of the vote)'
It was also stated in this poll that in future the percentage agreed will only be implemented when clearly marked in polls, otherwise the highest number of votes for any option presented will be considered as a binding majority decision.
