We often get requests and offers for both Sky and Virgin boxes.
Each are treated differently. This is because:-
Sky boxes and dishes are purchased and belong to the users. As such they are entitled to give them away to whomever they wish as long as they give them in good faith.
Those receiving them are entitled to use them but only for legal activities.
Virgin and Virgin Media "boxes" : The ones that are used exclusively for Cable TV decoding are usually the property of Virgin Media (and thus subject to the terms on their website). However, Virgin Media also offer a freeview box that the customer buys, so they are fine to be offered and requested. Their wireless routers are given away with their broadband subscriptions and become the property of the customer at the end of any initial contract period.
