STRUCTURE GROUP REPORT April 2011
This has been a fruitful month on Structure and lots of tasks have been completed or passed on to the next stage.
This is a summary of discussions since our last report of 24th Mar 2011, covering messages 8097 to 8527. Our membership stands at 70 (two less than last month).
The topics we have discussed this month are below.
Constitution Document
Task 61, Priority 1 The constitution document was sent to Central for consideration and comments. The document has now been sent to the Returning Officer and Proofreaders before going to a full volunteer poll on Central.
Suitable for All Ages
Task 62, Priority 10. Structure is looking again at the ‘suitable for all ages’ criteria (as per National Poll Jan 2010) and it was added to the Task List. We are currently looking for someone to lead this task so if you are interested or would like to join the discussion please head on over to Structure. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freegle-Structure/
Affiliation Requirements
Task 65, Priority 1 Upon re-examination of the National Poll December_2010_Poll it was decided that the results were open to misinterpretation on which affiliation requirements are mandatory and which are recommendations. After a poll of Structure members on what should be done about this it was decided that it will be brought to Central for a full volunteer poll.
Elected Posts
Task 5, Priority 3 The question was asked whether we should adopt the 'next highest candidate' automatic replacement if the role holder stands down. A poll was run on Structure Jan 2011 but the wording was not felt to be succinct enough. We polled again April 2011 and agreed to send to Central as a recommendation. Poll and announcement made on Central 21.4.11.
Co-opting for Vacancies
Task 66 Priority 1 Arising from task 55 was the question as to whether Reps should be allowed to co-opt volunteers to fill vacant elected posts until the next election. As this proposal conflicts with agreed procedure it could not be approved without 66% volunteer approval. We are currently looking for someone to lead this task so if you are interested or would like to join the discussion please head on over to Structure. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freegle-Structure/
