Revision as of 12:11, 29 October 2019
FreeStock is a bunch of volunteers getting together in a field for a bit of a blather. So far it's happened ten times, in the summers of 2009 to 2019. Another is planned for 2020.
Further details can be found at https://discourse.ilovefreegle.org/c/freestock
2020
Planning was being discussed on the Freestock Cafe and now continues on https://discourse.ilovefreegle.org/c/freestock . It will be a 10th birthday celebration event.
2019
Back to Hertfordshire in July where we benefited from a glamping tent booked by one of the party. Two new dogs visited in the company of Freegle's Havering moderator.
2018
Held in August at Clitheroe in an attempt to increase attendance from the north of the British Isles. This was only partially successful though it was a pleasure to meet three people (and one dog) who had not been before. It’s a lovely little town, and we enjoyed ourselves despite the traditional Lancashire weather.
2017
Held in Hertford on the weekend of 12th and 13th August. See below for information about the venue, as it was decided to use it again for this year.
Drop in and visit for a short while, or stay longer either on the campsite or at nearby accommodation. If you are booking on the site please say you are part of Jean Quinn's party and quote Ref 16275408.
2016
This year, 2016, it was held on 15th-18th July and the venue once again was Hertford
It is local to Train stations, and not too far from London.
You can book for a night or longer, or just visit and stay for a day.
It is suitable for wheelchairs.
FreeStock 2016 was held from 4.30pm on Friday the 15th of July until Monday the 18th, although if you’d just like to pop along for a few hours to chat you will be most welcome.
It is an informal social get-together for volunteers from all reuse groups (Freegle, Freecycle & others), and their families and friends. If you know volunteers who are not on Central, or those from other recycling networks, please do invite them along.
There are B&B’s and hotels nearby in and around Hertford if camping doesn't appeal. You can get accommodation information from Hertford Tourist Information or Trip Advisor.
Camping
The site is beautiful, with excellent facilities including disabled access. It has some "Glamping tents" that are set up for you.
All you need to know is on the FreeStock Cafe (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FreeStock-Cafe/info). If it isn’t, then please just ask on there.
Day visitors will be warmly welcomed and there is no cost for them.
Campers, please book direct and say that you are with the group booked by Dee Moss so that they can put us all in the same area.
Travelling
Hertford is easy to get to as it has two railway stations (Hertford North is 35 mins from London Kings Cross, Hertford East is for Liverpool Street trains) It is also near to major routes, so from the south take the M25 and then the A1M or the A10 North for 10 mins to the junctions for Hertford. If approaching from the North get to the A1M and turn off at Hatfield along the A414 to Hertford.
