These are sample messages you could use to send to a member for offers of computer software, DVDs, CDs etc:

Default message used by Caretakers:

Dear Freegle Member,

Please be aware that one of the basic requirements of Freegle is that items offered or requested must be legal. This includes copyright considerations on items such as computer software, music and films/TV programmes.

Please respect this rule, as it would be a serious threat to the future of Freegle if it became a forum for copyright theft.

Thanks for your understanding and co-operation in this matter

Kind Regards

Dear Freegle member

Thank you for your post, offering or wanting copied material. We need to be sure that it does not infringe copyright law.

Software, videos, DVDs, music CDs, cassettes and books offered on Freegle should be original.

In particular, software must not be a burned copy. It must have the serial number with it and have been removed from its original computer system. In the case of an operating system, it should also have the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) with it.

Kind regards

Dear Member

I am sorry to return your message.

Software offered or requested must be original (not a burned copy) and have the serial number with
it, and you must state that it has been removed from your computer system. (In the case of an operating system, it should also have the Certificate of Authenticity <COA> with it.)

Books and other copyrighted works must be originals and not copies. This includes DVD's and music CD's.

These are not just the groups policies, this is the law. I hope you understand therefore why your message has not been approved.

Kind regards
