Why Use Twitter?
As well as providing your members an easy way to see posts from the group, you can use it to spread the word.

I think a good way of taking advantage of twitter is for your twitter account to 'follow' other twittereers. In that way they get notification that you are following them and they may look at your twitter profile and then follow you or at the least find out about Freegle. It is a great way to spread the word. have a look at @FreegleBrighton and it'll give you an idea of what I am talking about.....My local council recycling, the green party, local removalists, collectors, scientists, designers, jornalists and so on are all following @FreegleBrighton twitter now (yay)

Many groups are setting up Twitter accounts, and finding local stuff to follow. I usually chose local Freegle groups, Local Councils & Councillors, your local MP.s and maybe any interested in the environment. You local political parties, (don't forget the green party). Local firms, and Local people who don't use bad language. Then find your local radio stations, reporters, bloggers, and anything else you can think of. Some will find you back and sometimes retweet your posts.
I have seen some very good responses from councillors and reporters, and it has led to be getting a new moderator to. '
Once a month we now have a Freegle tweet hour 9-00-10.00pm every first Thursday. Join in the fun and add some tweets of your own. Retweet others to your followers, and maybe get a converstion going.
I can help you get set up, if you want an account but don't have time. Just mail jean.quinn1@gmail.com
